Pass The Parcel

In preparation for the game, a prize is wrapped in a large number of layers of wrapping paper. Smaller prizes (usually sweets) have been placed between all the other layers of wrapping. During the game, music is played as the parcel is passed around. Whoever is holding the parcel when the music is stopped removes one layer of wrapping and claims any prize found under that layer. The music is then restarted and the game continues until every layer is removed and the main prize claimed.

Musical Bumps

Clear a space large enough to allow for children to dance. Start some music and encourage the children to begin to dance. After a minute or two, stop the music. All of the children need to sit down completely on their behinds as quickly as they can. The last child to sit down is out of the game. This game play continues until only one child remains. The last child remaining is the winner of the game. The winner is awarded a prize.

Musical Chairs

The game starts with any number of players and a number of chairs one fewer than the number of players; the chairs are arranged in a circle facing outward, with the people standing in a circle just outside of that. A non-playing individual plays recorded music and whilst the music is playing, the players in the circle walk in unison around the chairs. When the music player suddenly stops the music, everyone must race to sit down in one of the chairs. The player who is left without a chair is eliminated from the game, and one chair is also removed to ensure that there will always be one fewer chair than there are players. The music resumes and the cycle repeats until there is only one player left in the game, who is the winner.


The more people you have for this game, the better (more than ten, preferably). Find a room with four corners, and number them one to four (make sure everyone playing knows what corner is what number). The entertainer is 'it' and blindfolded, then have everyone run to a corner (any corner, but make sure people split up). The entertainer calls out a number from one to four. The people in that corner are all out, then everyone scatters to another corner, or stays in the same one (it's okay to go to the corner that was just called, but it might get called again, so watch out!). Play like this until one person remains, or everyone is out. It's fun and exhilarating, especially if you're a youngster. Colours or other themes can be used to name the corners.


All children stand on a line. One side is the sea, the other side is the shore. The entertainer shouts out either sea or shore and the children have to jump to the correct side. Whoever is the slowest or jumps to the wrong side, is out. The last one left, is the winner.

Squeak Piggy Squeak

All children sit down in a circle with the birthday boy/girl blindfolded in the middle. The birthday boy/girl sits on their friends' laps and says 'Squeak Piggy Squeak'. When squeaking, the child should try to disguise their voice. If the birthday boy/girl guesses correctly, the child is out. The game carries on until only the birthday boy/girl and one child remain. Both children win a prize.


The children sit at the table, or if there are too many, on the floor. They are given a piece of kitchen towel, chopsticks, a container and 10 raisins. They have to transfer all the raisins into the container by using the chopsticks. The first one to do it is the winner.


More balloons than children playing are arranged over the floor. When the music stops every child grabs a balloon. The entertainer is blindfolded, and calls out a colour of balloon. If you are holding that colour balloon you are out. The game continues until there is only one child left who is the winner.

Pin The Tail On The Donkey

One of the oldest and most favourite party games. But, it doesn't have to be a donkey. Party 4 You can change the donkey and the tail to match your theme!

- Pin the butterfly on the flower
- Pin the heart on the tinman
- Pin the tail on the T-Rex
- Pin the tail on Pikachu
You get the idea. Then each child is blindfolded and gets a try at placing the tail as close as possible to where it supposed to go. The closest is the winner.

Musical Statues

Musical Statues Game (all ages). All children dance to the music being played, when the music stops everybody needs to keep very still like statues. The child who moves first goes out, this is repeated until one child remains - this child wins the prize.

Simon Says

The entertainer shouts out different actions e.g. put your hands on your head, hop on one foot etc. The child must only carry out the action if the entertainer has said 'Simon Says' in front of the action e.g. 'Simon Says put your hands on your head'. If the child carries out the action when the entertainer has not said 'Simon Says'. they are out. The game gets faster and faster. When there is one child left, they are announced as the winner.

Pass The Balloon

All the children stand in a circle. One balloon is passed around and when the music stops, whoever is holding the balloon is out. The game continues until there is one child left who is named the winner.

Red, Blue, Green

Red means fast, blue means normal speed, green means slow. Different activities are chosen i.e. hopping, skipping, jumping, walking, dancing etc. along with the speed. Whoever is the last to perform the task correctly is out. The winner is the last person left.

On the tray

Age 5+

A selection of objects are arranged on a tray, which are kept covered with a tea-towel until the children are ready to play the game. Each child is given a pencil and paper and are asked to write their name at the top. The tray is uncovered and placed where all children can see it. The children are given 60 seconds to memorise the contents of the tray, then the tray is covered up again. The children are asked to write down all of the objects that they can remember. Whoever has remembered the most items, wins.

What's In The Box

Each child approaches the box individually and puts one hand into each of the three shaped holes. They tell the entertainer what they think each item is. The winner is the child who gets the most correct.
